Benefits administrators can enhance their professional development and standing with an accreditation on the BENEFITFOCUS® Marketplace.

Orlando, Fla. – March 7, 2016 – Benefitfocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: BNFT), a leading provider of cloud-based benefits management software, today announced its new Certified Benefits Administrator accreditation program and additional opportunities for benefits administrators to earn CEUs through the company’s BENEFITFOCUS® University.  The announcement was made as part of the pre-conference session at the company’s annual user conference BENEFITFOCUS® One Place, currently underway in Orlando, Florida.

Helping employees make better benefits decisions

Evolving ACA legislation and rising health care costs continue to place pressure on employers to adapt their health and voluntary benefits strategies, which also requires significant education for benefits administrators and the employees they serve.

“Our new certification program enables benefits administrators to apply the many powerful features in our software that can help them guide employees in selecting their benefits, which can help protect them and their families,” said Bucky Wall, Dean of Benefitfocus University.

The accreditation program is aimed at empowering better decisions through better information. Using the Benefitfocus University online portal, HR professionals are required to complete the following three courses: (1) The Benefits Administrator Role; (2) Communication Portal 101 and (3) the choice of either Everything you Need to Know for a Successful First Open Enrollment; or Renewal Preparation: You Finished Open Enrollment. Now What?

Validated benefits administrator credentials

Benefits administrators who complete the required courses and pass the exams receive accreditation including a digital badge, which they can display on their LinkedIn and other social profiles. The badges are issued by Acclaim, an independent company that delivers verifiable recognition.

In addition, the company announced that benefits administrators can earn CEUs for successfully completing several of its Benefitfocus University courses. The CEUs apply toward the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) HR General recertification credit hours. The courses are offered online in a self-guided tutorial or instructor-led at the Benefitfocus Daniel Island (Charleston, S.C.) campus.

Benefits administrators who use the Benefitfocus Marketplace can register for both online and on-campus courses at the Benefitfocus University Online Portal accessible from One Place 365.
