Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Alma mater: I was born and raised in Poland and moved to Canada in 1989 as a teenager, where I went to high school in Leamington, Ontario. I went to St. Clair College, where I started in finance and worked while going to school. Shortly after that, I got into payroll and then added on the HR component. In 2007 I moved to Calgary, where I completed my HR designation at Mt. Royal University.
All-time favorite restaurant: I’m just a girl who likes to try new restaurants and foods, so my favorites change all the time! Currently, my favorite is Mexican food. Anejo and Blanco Restaurants in Calgary have the best margaritas and tacos.
What is your favorite type of book to read? My favorite books are criminal mysteries. I particularly enjoy Patricia Cornwell’s series of books.
What do you do when you’re not working? There’s nothing quite like an adventure in the mountains. Being surrounded by nature’s giants and high-top trees has such a powerful effect on me. Whenever I am hiking in nature, I feel so much more connected to the world around me! I try to get out and explore with my daughter Veronica and our dog Jax as much as possible.
How did you find out about HRchitect, and what made you join the company? I knew one of the Project Managers at HRchitect when I was a customer a while back. I reconnected with him at GDAC (an Ultimate Software meeting). I recall he always had wonderful things to say about HRchitect. So when I decided to make a change, HRchitect was the first company I reached out to.
How has your background impacted your experience as a consultant? I have always been tech-savvy. That combined with my Payroll and HR experience, allowed me to learn new systems quickly and helps me to understand the logic and reasoning needed to analyze and understand my client’s needs.
In your own words, what do you do at HRchitect? Collaborating with our clients, configuring their HCM and Payroll systems to pay people.
What’s a typical workday like for you? My typical day consists of customer calls, meetings, resolving issues, and finding solutions for my clients.
Tell me about a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of. A payroll project that I worked on for an Engineering firm consisting of 700+ employees. On the client’s side, the project was led by a one-person team that had limited support and resources. I provided extra support and guidance during the implementation, which allowed us to finish on time with no issues. This client was extremely grateful and appreciative.
What’s been one of your favorite destinations to travel to for a client site visit? Anywhere with sun, sand, and ocean, but I have particularly enjoyed business travel to Miami & Fort Lauderdale.
As part of a team that works 100% virtually, what technology or collaboration tools do you use to make your work life easier? I use Slack and Teams.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day? I work for a great company where we are valued, appreciated, and always encouraged to learn and develop. We have a fantastic team that supports each other daily, and even though we are all remote, I still feel like we are a part of this amazing family.
Which employee perk that HRchitect offers do you enjoy the most? Why?
I really love being able to work remotely.
