What do you do when you’re not working? When I am not working I enjoy kayaking, boating, Harley rides, hiking, wine tasting, travel, and the beach. I love to spend quality time with my family and my one-year-old granddaughter.
How did you find out about HRchitect, and what made you join the company? My current peers, Jody Burton and Michael Neubauer, whom I worked with at a previous consulting firm, told me about HRchitect and how it was a great company. I have never looked back and love working at HRchitect.
How has your background impacted your experience as a consultant? I worked as an HR practitioner for Eddie Bauer for over 13.5 years. As a Payroll Manager, I implemented UKG (Ultimate Software) for two companies during that time. It was really helpful to know how the client felt during the entire implementation process, which transfers perfectly to my role as an Implementation Manager overseeing our payroll implementations.
In your own words, what do you do at HRchitect? Ultimately, I help clients by working with a talented team of consultants that helps our clients configure their HRIS/Payroll system in a way that it meets all of their needs, in turn making work life better for both their HR teams and their employees across the globe. I’m proud to lead a team of consultants specializing in HR and Payroll software, to help them grow, and navigate the fast-paced world of HR technology consulting.
What’s a typical workday like for you? Over a cup of coffee in the morning, I read my emails and catch up on actionable items that have come in from my team or from clients overnight. The rest of my days are typically split amongst meetings with my clients, oversight on high priority projects and assisting my team so they have everything they need to be successful, as well as system configuration work where I build out my client’s HR & Payroll systems. I round out the day with fun chatter from the rest of the HRchitect team in Slack, our virtual communication channel.
Tell me about a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of. One client engagement I particularly enjoyed working with was an Oil & Gas client. The project was challenging because this client had so many different types of employees and different pay groups. Our team focused on categorizing and assigning the correct groups to the employee records. Ultimately, everyone was paid correctly, deductions were perfect, and everyone was happy. The client was so happy with the outcome that I am now implementing an HR/Payroll system for another division of this client’s organization. I love being able to make my clients happy!
What’s been one of your favorite destinations to travel to for a client site visit? In my previous role as a Senior Consultant, I had the opportunity to travel to Idaho to visit one of our large clients. I really enjoyed the quaintness of the town I was staying in.
As part of a team that works 100% virtually, what technology or collaboration tools do you use to make your work life easier? We use Slack a lot to collaborate with our team and for fun. I also like to have good internet and lots of screens.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day? I love my job. Even with all the craziness, I truly do enjoy the challenges and the learning that happens every day. I enjoy talking with my clients and getting to truly know them both personally and professionally. I love my team. They bring smiles to my face every day!
Which employee perk that HRchitect offers do you enjoy the most? Why? I really enjoy the annual Charitable Giving Program where HRchitect donates $100 to a charity of my choice every year. It means so much to be able to support organizations that I care deeply about. Two years ago I was able to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project and this past year I was able to support Helping Mamas Knoxville.
