Ultimate Software

November 9, 2015 – Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that it has been ranked #4 on the list of 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity 2015 created by Fortune and Great Place to Work. In associated diversity lists, Ultimate was recognized as the #1 workplace for Hispanics and Latinos and #3 workplace for African-Americans. Fortune and Great Place to Work partnered with People en Español and Essence magazines, respectively, on these lists. The winners come from a universe of approximately 630 companies that Great Place to Work evaluated by analyzing the results from a national survey of more than 128,000 women and 69,000 minority employees and statistical data on the companies’ employee populations.

“We are honored to be ranked on the 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity list since putting people first is at the core of all we do at Ultimate,” said Vivian Maza, chief people officer of Ultimate. “We have always believed that diversity drives innovation, creativity, and business success. By hiring the most talented minds, we are able to solve complex problems creatively and connect with our customers in a holistic way.”

One way Ultimate fosters an atmosphere of equality and respect is awarding Restricted Stock Units to all full-time, new-hire employees, effectively making everyone an owner of the company. Another way is paying 100% of the cost for healthcare (PPO), prescription, dental, and vision coverage for all full-time employees and their families, including same-sex married couples. Ultimate also matches employee contributions to the 401(k) plan at 40% with no cap on the matching amount (unlike some companies that, for example, may match at 50% but limit the match to the first 4% of the employee’s salary, making the match effectively 2%).

Ultimate wants to congratulate our customer, Camden Property Trust, for being ranked #1 on Fortune’s list of 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity 2015 and some of our other customers who were also named to the list: JM Family Enterprises, Kimley-Horn and Associates, and Quicken Loans.

Ranking on the 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity list is determined primarily by the Great Place to Work Trust Index Employee Survey. Employees evaluate their companies on a range of topics related to respect and care in the workplace, such as: how comfortable they feel being themselves at work; the degree of favoritism or insider politics they observe in the workplace; the perceived fairness of promotions; the degree of honest connection with coworkers; their access to senior leadership; and who receives information and opportunities for professional development and who doesn’t.

Scores also take into account how well-represented women and minorities are within the workforce, management, and executive positions; how they rank the overall quality of their workplace experience, compared with their colleagues; and how favorably their experiences compare with the 139,000 men and 184,000 Caucasians also surveyed. From this superset of companies, Great Place to Work also determines the top 10 companies for employees identifying as African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian, based on these employees’ reports of their workplace experiences.
