New, Expanded Capabilities Help Global Organizations Transform Employee Performance

CHICAGO— October 5, 2016 — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced strong momentum and expanded capabilities for continuous performance management, launched earlier this year as part of the SAP® SuccessFactors® Performance & Goals solution. Customers are joining the movement and using continuous performance management to help transform their performance management programs with more continuous coaching and feedback. This announcement was made at the HR Technology Conference & Expo taking place October 4–7 in Chicago.

Continuous performance management has been recognized with HR Tech’s “Awesome New Technologies for HR” award for being one of the year’s most innovative technologies enabling performance management transformation. More than 80 businesses have now enabled continuous performance management, including Nexteer Automotive and Otsuka, to help increase their performance management effectiveness.

“We are currently piloting continuous performance management (CPM) with our sales force, and we absolutely love the app,” said Tamara Ziegler, Talent Partner at Otsuka America Pharmaceuticals. “Now our managers have a simple way to provide real-time coaching and feedback, which keeps employees both motivated and engaged. By implementing CPM, we’ve made improving employee performance part of everyday worklife. Our employees receive the guidance they need when they need it to constantly grow in their roles.”

Many organizations view traditional performance management methods as no longer adequate to engage, motivate and advance the development of today’s employees. As a result, they are rethinking how they approach performance management. Continuous performance management helps enable global organizations across industries to create a culture of more open and continuous performance-oriented dialog by stimulating manager-employee check-ins and coaching throughout the year. As a part of SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, SAP provides organizations incredible flexibility to create their own, unique performance programs based on their distinct culture and requirements.

The latest updates to continuous performance management, delivered in Q3 as part of SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, include:

Peer feedback requests: Employees and managers can request feedback at any time from peers on employees’ achievements. This allows employees to get a quick and timely read on how others perceive their work. Plus, managers gain a more complete performance picture and can use the feedback for ongoing recognition and coaching, and as input for the performance review.

Integration with performance management review form: Achievements captured within continuous performance management are displayed on a new “Achivements” tab in the goal sections of the performance form, making it easier for managers to perform accurate and fair formal assessments.

New native mobile continuous performance management as part of SAP SuccessFactors mobile app: Native mobile capabilities for continuous performance management provide employees and managers a seamless, intuitive mobile experience — optimized for ease of use and superior performance.

“Our approach is to build solutions that help make the employee experience better,” said Mike Ettling, president of SAP SuccessFactors.* “When people use our products, we want them to think they’re awesome. Right now, in a lot of companies, the annual performance review process is not only not awesome, it’s dreaded. We’ve become accustomed to accessing the opinions, thoughts and expertise from our networks, and we’re bringing that desire into our workplaces. Our goal is to help ensure employees and managers have more regular and more meaningful conversations, including accessing the feedback of peers. I liken it to taking golf lessons. If your coach waits six months to tell you your swing is no good, you’ve wasted a lot of time in which you could have been more successful by making adjustments. We’re delivering intelligent, cloud-based solutions to help improve the workplace experience and ensure your people are all-in.”
