Evening Event Explored Creative Strategies for Engaging Candidates and Changing the Way People View Employer Branding

CALGARY  (June 22, 2015) – TMP Worldwide, a global innovator in talent acquisition, today shared details of its recent event on employer branding, titled “Disruption,” held at The Opera Room at Teatro in the theatre district of downtown Calgary.

With information and advertising overwhelming communication channels, the ability to stand out from the crowd and distinguish a strong identity can help companies engage the right candidates. At a time when companies around the world are competing for top talent, disrupting the employer brand is more important than ever. Emphasizing the power of disruption, this TMP event demonstrated how companies can develop attention-grabbing recruitment marketing content that cuts through the noise and gets the right message to the right candidates.

Over the course of the evening, the TMP team encouraged attendees to step outside their comfort zone and examine whether or not their companies’ employer brands were successful representations of their business objectives and goals. Of those that attended, several marveled at the event’s unique approach to an already timely topic. By creating an interactive and thought-provoking ambiance, TMP was able to provide attendees with access to new ideas, strategies and practices to benefit Employer Branding efforts at their organizations.

Colette O’Neill, senior vice president of TMP’s Canadian operations, offered opening remarks and introduced a presentation from TMP’s vice president of Digital Strategy, Louis Vong. The overarching theme of his session concluded that while the idea of disruption often makes people uncomfortable, it is a necessary factor for a forward-thinking talent acquisition strategy. Peppering his 30-minute presentation with lively anecdotes, Vong demonstrated the value of disruptive thinking for organizations in order to challenge the status quo and develop new methods to convey a dynamic employer brand that resonates in today’s saturated marketplace.

Attendee and TMP client Heather McKeown, Talent Acquisition Leader, Energy, Infrastructure and Industrial Construction, at AECOM, commented, “It was a good reminder that we all get stuck in complacency and don’t even realize it. We really need to ‘disrupt’ the status quo to significantly shift our results and change the way talent is looking at us as employers of choice.”
