Ultimate Software, a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that it has been ranked #2 on this year’s 100 Best Workplaces for Women list by Fortune and Great Place to Work. Rankings are drawn from surveys of more than 400,000 women at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations throughout the United States. Results also take into account representational data, such as the total percentages of women and number of women in executive and managerial roles at these companies.

“At Ultimate, we’re focused on putting people first, every day. We especially realize the essential role women play as innovators and leaders not only in tech, but in workplaces everywhere,” said Vivian Maza, chief people officer at Ultimate. “We’re committed to providing a caring, productive environment where women feel respected, are empowered, and have the necessary resources to excel as professionals. At the same time, Ultimate wholeheartedly supports those wishing to raise families while developing their careers, and we offer diverse programs and comprehensive benefits to ensure all employees can maintain a healthy work-life balance as they serve our customers, our communities, and one another.”

Women comprise nearly half (49%) of Ultimate’s total workforce, and 42% of females at Ultimate hold leadership positions of manager or above. Employees are encouraged to join Ultimate’s Women in Leadership (WIL) group, one of three companywide Communities of Interest that promote inclusivity, equality, respect, and care for all individuals, aligning with the company’s “People First” core philosophy. WIL offers Ultimate’s women at all job levels an outlet to learn, connect, and succeed through a variety of networking, social, and community service events that “aspire to inspire” women everywhere.

To help develop the next generation of female leaders, this past summer Ultimate and WIL introduced the Athena Scholarship, awarding two annual college scholarships of up to $20,000 each to graduating daughters of Ultimate employees, as well as rising seniors graduating high school next year. The scholarships will be awarded to young women pursuing studies in tech (such as computer science, engineering, programming, user experience and test programming, and user experience design) or who demonstrate superior leadership skills in their school and/or community, with the potential to become a woman leader.

Ultimate continues to expand its support and care for employees, within the workplace and beyond its walls. In January, Ultimate added coverage for infertility treatments as part of the company’s healthcare plan, which already includes 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for all employees and their families (including same-sex married couples). As part of its comprehensive benefits package, Ultimate also offers employees paid maternity and adoption leave (10 weeks each), as well as paid paternity leave (4 weeks); unlimited PTO throughout the year; $300 annually (per child) to help cover costs of extracurricular activities; and such onsite benefits as access to private “Mommy’s Rooms” for nursing women.

In determining final rankings on Fortune’s list, women across the United States completed Great Place to Work’s anonymous Trust Index© survey, rating their organizations in more than 50 areas, such as respect, fairness, management, and camaraderie. The ranking also considered women’s survey results compared with their colleagues’, to ensure women had as positive an experience as men. This considered an index of factors, including access to meaningful work, fair pay, and plans for a future with their organizations. Great Place to Work also analyzed demographic patterns to ensure companies created great workplaces for all women, regardless of who they are or what jobs they do.
