Ultimate Software, a leading global provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that Ultimate ranks #3 on the Best Workplaces in Canada 2019 list by Great Place to Work. The list is based on employee feedback and in-depth reviews of workplace cultures at hundreds of organizations across Canada, representing diverse sizes and industries.
“We are so proud of our Canadian employees for earning this award and honoured to be recognized again as one of the Best Workplaces in the country,” said Vivian Maza, chief people officer at Ultimate. “The care, trust, respect, and commitment our people bring to work every day helps keep our ‘People First’ culture strong and enables Ultimate to make a difference in the lives of so many people—not just throughout Canada, but across the globe. Together, we create innovative HR technology, provide personalized support to our customers, and serve our communities through selfless giving. Together, we help one another thrive.”
Ultimate fosters the personal growth and career success of our people through ongoing learning, mentorship, and leadership-development programs. In 2019, Ultimate launched a companywide U Belong program dedicated to ensuring all employees continue to feel safe and welcome bringing their whole selves to work. U Belong builds upon the foundations and principles of Ultimate’s longstanding diversity practices, working with leaders across the company to develop a comprehensive diversity program and support system. Employees are also encouraged to join and participate in Ultimate’s Community of Interest groups: PRIDEUS for LGBTQIA individuals; Women in Leadership for women at all levels of the organization; UltiVETS for veterans and active service members; UltiHOPE for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers; and Women in Technology, established in February 2019 to support all women in tech roles, through a variety of educational programs, networking, community involvement, and mentoring opportunities.
As part of a wide-ranging benefits package for Canada-based employees, Ultimate provides extended healthcare coverage for all employees and their families; a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with a 45% dollar-for-dollar match on all employee contributions; paid maternity and adoption leave (10 weeks each), as well as paid paternity leave (4 weeks); unlimited PTO throughout the year; three annual paid service days for employees to volunteer at charities of their choosing; and an annual stipend (up to $300 per child) to help cover the costs of children’s extracurricular activities. Ultimate also offers a companywide wellness program, serving six pillars of well-being and providing access to onsite group-exercise classes (including yoga and boot camps). Additional offerings include free daily snacks and weekly lunches, birthday celebrations, team outings, onsite video games, table tennis, foosball, and more.
Rankings for the Best Workplaces in Canada 2019 list are based on two main criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from employees’ anonymous survey responses, and one-third from a thorough review of organizations’ workplace cultures. For the 2019 list, Great Place to Work surveyed over 80,000 employees from more than 400 companies across Canada and ranked the top 50 in three size categories (1,000+ employees, 100-999 employees, and fewer than 100 employees). This marks Ultimate’s second consecutive year in the top three for companies with 1,000+ employees, and Ultimate is the highest-ranking HCM software provider on the 2019 list.
