Canned Foods Manufacturer
Client Background
This HRchitect client is a canned food manufacturer headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, with approximately 1,000 employees. The organization relied on an Infinium system for Core HR, Payroll, Time, and Benefits, supplemented by Microsoft Office tools for additional HR processes. Integrations existed between Infinium and several business systems, including Concur, Microsoft Dynamics, and ServiceNow, while OnBase was used for document management. As the organization evolved, it became clear that the existing technology landscape could no longer support future business needs, prompting the decision to move to a modern, cloud-based HCM solution.
The Challenge
The client faced several challenges with its existing HR technology environment. The legacy Infinium system limited efficiency and flexibility, while reliance on manual processes and spreadsheets, particularly for complex compensation calculations, created significant administrative burden and risk for error. Additionally, with a large portion of the workforce approaching retirement, the organization needed stronger talent management capabilities to support workforce planning and knowledge transfer. The client required a streamlined, scalable solution that could modernize HR operations, reduce manual effort, and better support future workforce needs.

The Project
The client engaged HRchitect to lead an HR technology evaluation and selection initiative, beginning with a strategy phase to define future-state requirements and priorities. Through collaboration with the client’s HR team, HRchitect conducted a thorough discovery process to understand current processes, system limitations, and key business objectives.
Rather than pursuing a traditional RFP, the client opted for HRchitect’s more agile RFI-based approach. HRchitect developed a comprehensive requirements document and distributed an RFI to four targeted vendors that aligned with the client’s needs. Each vendor participated in demonstrations, which were structured and scored based on their ability to meet the client’s functional and technical requirements.
Following the initial evaluation, two vendors emerged as clear frontrunners. HRchitect facilitated deep-dive demonstration sessions focused specifically on the client’s most critical pain points, including compensation management and talent processes. These targeted sessions enabled a more detailed comparison of system capabilities and ensured alignment with the client’s priorities.
Through this structured and data-driven process, the client was able to confidently evaluate options and ultimately select the vendor that best met their needs.
