In the Northern Hemisphere many Americans gear up during the summer to go on a family vacation and some even plan an extended road trip across the country. Road tripping in the U.S. is a summertime tradition as old as cars themselves. Road trip experts know that being prepared before you go is key to having the best trip ahead. Having a roadmap or a navigation system is a great way to make sure you’re headed in the right direction, and sticking to your road trip plan.  Every now and then, it’s fun to go on detours, but having the destination in mind and knowing how to get there helps eliminate wasted time and money on your road trip.

There are many reasons to use roadmaps, not only for summertime travel, but in all areas of our life from our personal goals to our professional goals. I work in the HR technology space and roadmapping, or strategic planning as we call it, is something that is extremely common when strategizing about new technologies for the future. Before embarking on any journey, or in my case, my client’s HR technology journey, it’s important to sit down and develop a roadmap before making any decision that has long lasting impacts. Here are some reasons it’s important to create an HR technology roadmap:

  • The roadmap helps identify gaps in your plan
  • The roadmap serves as a guide for your passengers/team during your journey
  • The roadmap sets your budget for investments and associated costs
  • The roadmap designs your timeline for important milestone dates
  • The roadmap connects your strategy to solutions in the marketplace

While it’s often easy to plan a roadmap for your summer road trip by yourself, it can be a bit challenging to put together an HR technology roadmap on your own, so it is always a good idea to enlist the help of firms like HRchitect, who act as your navigation system ensuring you get to your destination in a timely and cost-effective manner. There’s no better time to leverage HRchitect as your GPS system, as we have developed all the tools necessary to help guide your HCM technology journey and warn you well ahead of time about pot holes and pit falls you should avoid along the way.  Happy road tripping!

If you are looking for a new or replacement HCM system for your firm, HRchitect can help you to select the right system for your organization, and help you implement the new system so you are up and running and maximizing return on investment in no time.
